Your Private, Dedicated Breast Form Fitting Room
Your fitting takes place in a private room designed specifically for breast form and prosthesis fittings. Our extensive selection of breast forms is kept within the fitting room, allowing your Certified Fitter to compare different sizes, shapes, weights and profiles with you without requiring you to leave the privacy of the room.
This allows the entire fitting process to be conducted discreetly, comfortably and with the products your fitter needs readily available. There is also space for a friend or support person to join you during your fitting if you wish.
When Should I Have My Breast Prosthesis Fitting?
Many women are ready to be fitted for a permanent weighted breast prosthesis once their surgical site is sufficiently healed, often around six to eight weeks after surgery. Healing varies from person to person, so your healthcare provider's advice and your individual healing should determine when you're ready.
Not quite ready for your permanent breast form? While you're still healing, we can help you with a Post-Surgical Bra or Compression Bra and a temporary, lightweight Leisure Breast Form (“puff”) to provide comfortable shape and symmetry until you're ready for your permanent prosthesis fitting.

Your Certified Mastectomy Fitter
A breast prosthesis should not be selected simply by cup size or appearance. Your Certified Mastectomy Fitter is trained to assess your individual surgical site and help select the appropriate prosthesis and mastectomy bra for your body and needs.
Why Your Fitter Needs to Assess Your Chest Wall
An important part of a professional breast prosthesis fitting is a private visual assessment of your post-surgical chest wall by your Certified Mastectomy Fitter. Your fitter needs to understand the shape and contours of the surgical area, including any remaining tissue, scarring, unevenness or areas where tissue has been removed. This information helps determine which breast form shape, profile and size will provide the most natural balance and comfortable fit.
Simply choosing a breast form by bra cup size, or trying different prostheses without an assessment of the surgical area, cannot provide the same individualized fitting.
The assessment is conducted respectfully and privately in our dedicated fitting room, and only to obtain the information your fitter needs to select and fit your breast prosthesis properly.

- Your type of breast surgery and surgical site
- Scarring, voids and tissue changes
- The shape and depth of the surgical area
- Your natural breast shape when applicable
- Prosthesis shape, weight and profile

What to Expect at Your Silhouette Breast Prosthesis Fitting
1. Private Chest Wall & Surgical Site Assessment
Your Certified Fitter will privately assess your post-surgical chest wall, including its shape, depth and contours. This is an essential part of selecting a breast prosthesis that properly fits your individual surgical outcome. The surgical site should be sufficiently healed before fitting a permanent weighted breast prosthesis.
2. Accurate Bra Measurements
Proper bra sizing is an important part of the fitting. Measurements are taken around the rib cage and chest to help determine the appropriate bra size. A correctly fitted bra helps position and support your breast prosthesis comfortably and securely.
3. Selecting the Right Mastectomy Bra
Today's Mastectomy Bras are available in a wide variety of comfortable, feminine and supportive styles. Integrated pockets help hold your breast form securely in the correct position.
Your fitter will help select a bra that works properly with both your body and the breast prosthesis being fitted.
4. Selecting Your Breast Prosthesis
We carry an extensive selection of Breast Forms & Breast Prostheses from Amoena Canada in different sizes, shapes, weights and profiles.
Your Certified Fitter considers the shape and depth of your surgical site, remaining breast tissue where applicable, your body shape, lifestyle and personal preferences when comparing different breast forms.
Options can include full and partial breast forms, standard and lightweight prostheses, contact forms and adjustable breast forms such as the Amoena Adapt Air.
5. Checking Your Balance and Symmetry
At the end of your fitting, we'll check the breast form and bra under clothing to assess your overall shape and symmetry.
The goal is a natural, balanced appearance together with a fit that feels comfortable and secure.

Follow-Up Fittings
Your body and fit can change over time due to weight changes, natural breast changes and other factors. Periodic professional fittings help ensure your breast prosthesis and bra continue to provide appropriate balance, comfort and fit.
If this is your first breast prosthesis, an earlier follow-up can also be helpful as your body continues to adjust after surgery.

Silhouette Mastectomy is registered with BC Fair PharmaCare. Eligible clients may qualify for coverage toward breast prostheses. Coverage for breast prostheses and mastectomy bras may also be available through private insurance plans.
